Windows 10 End of Support: What You Need to Know
Key Date: October 14, 2025
Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on this date.
What does end of support mean?
After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer:
- Release security updates or patches
- Provide technical support for Windows 10 issues
- Offer bug fixes or performance improvements
- Ensure compatibility with new hardware or applications
Using Windows 10 after this date may expose your system to security vulnerabilities and operational risks.
Why is this happening?
Microsoft provides support for its operating systems for approximately 10 years. Since Windows 10 was released in July 2015, it has reached the end of its lifecycle. Microsoft is focusing future development and support on Windows 11, which offers improved performance, security, and user experience.
What are your options?
-
Upgrade to Windows 11. If your current PC meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, you can upgrade to take advantage of newer features and ongoing support.
-
Replace Incompatible Devices. Devices that do not meet Windows 11 requirements may need to be replaced. New devices come with Windows 11 pre-installed and are designed to be more secure and efficient.
-
Extended Security Updates (ESU) – for Business Users. Microsoft will offer paid Extended Security Updates for enterprise and education editions of Windows 10. This is intended as a temporary solution for organisations that need more time to transition.
